2019 new release from Kenny woodwind
« on: July 08, 2019, 06:43:07 AM »
Hi, guys,
It me xiaoyu from China. Do you still use my thumb saddle?
This year ,my new product is :
Ebony & grenadilla, hard rubber mouthpiece made by 5 axis machine with hand finish.
It is still working on adjustment them.
But I'm so exciting because so far, the mps is amazing!
The mps data is base vandoren bd5,
But I am sure it is different.
Here is vedio:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LK3vk2BGOns&feature=youtu.be

I found the wooden mps have more vibration, especial it will make legere reed sound more nature.
But the problem is wooden unstable ,I  have to test ..
It  need a lot of  time to mass production.

Excellent video!

It really liked the time-lapse to show how it is made.

I look forward to the final product!

I LOVE your thumb rests! Been using them for over a year on all my various clarinets.

I am also interested in trying one of your MPs. Keep us informed.

I look forward to trying your mouthpieces.

Perhaps a product like this would help to stabilise the wood.

https://www.turntex.com/help-center/cactus-juice-stabilizing-resources/60-using-cactus-juice

Maybe you have something similar in China.

It will not penetrate very far in such a dense wood but may be good enough if it is impregnated after machining and before hand finishing.

In days gone bye wood billets for clarinets were be kept in oil (linseed or tung oil) for as long as a year.

Another satisfied Kenny designed thumb saddle user here! Not a big fan of wooden mouth pieces, but if you can produce a nice HR copy of a Vandoren piece, that would be great.

Yes. Wooden mouthpieces don't last long. And they react to the moisture inherent in playing, which makes them quickly change shape. I have been told that when people used wooden mouthpieces, they learned not only to work on reeds, but to make adjustments to the mouthpiece as well. I'll be happy to try one though.

Write to Kenny at hzxiaoyu@qq.com

I LOVE his thumb rests! They are far superior to Ridenour or anything else. Your thumb will thank you, and the horn will be more stable in your hands.  There are a number of us on this list who use them.

Tell Kenny your address and he will send you a quote, then a PayPal invoice. Tell him you were referred by The Clarinet Pages.

They will come straight from China. However, the quality is VERY good. This isn't your cheap chinese junk, this is premium quality stuff made by a really great guy.

I don't doubt it. My partner uses the Wish app to buy stuff, a lot of it comes from China and its not bad quality. But its the shipping time. Definitely after Christmas to look into it.
