G. Penzel New York Pacemaker serial number U3103B
« on: August 21, 2018, 01:01:42 PM »
Hello, I recently acquired 2 older clarinets.
1. G Penzel New York Pacemaker...made in France serial # U3103B.

I have not had much success in pinning down when it was manufactured or what it is made of, Grenadalia, rosewood? it's not dark enough to be ebony.. also is it worth the cost of corks and pads and repairing a cracked bell?

The second instrument is an all metal Clarinet made in France serial # 1855 with the name NOMAR on the bell in what looks like  a single line engraving. Both instruments look to have their original cases and everything to play.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I have a student with a P-M Pacemaker clarinet.  This one is clearly made of a nice, tight grenadilla wood.  I found it to be worth taking in for all new pads and corks.  The student is borrowing my spare clarinet while this work is being done.  As I find out more on this model, I will be sure and post here so that we can share observations.  I can't wait to play this clarinet once it gets repaired!  I am so curious!
