Anyone tried these? They're a modern invention, only been around for a few years and are great fun. Small ones like this 8" are normally played with mallets like a glockenspiel, but you get the best sound if you use your hands, hitting hard and releasing instantly so the tongues can ring.

Yes! I messed around with one at my local music store. It%u2019s pretty fun. Would love to get one someday.

Similar but not the same. Steel drum is one solid piece, but each note on this is cut most of the way around so it can vibrate freely. They also sound different.

No its a new type of instrument, only been around since about 2000
Originally they were big hand pans tuned to a minor, ethnic scale and were often used during meditation, yoga etc.

I have one of those!  I was not aware they had that name, though.  They are fun to play.  My sister got me one a few years ago.  I take it to festivals.  She also got be a Duduk, which I have yet been able to make play music, lol.

I have been entranced by videos on YouTube about these. I like the sound of many of the Rav Vast series. Also compare with the hand pan, which has indentations and dimples instead of tongues.

I'm looking for a Rav Vast Celtic D double ding.
