Market Rebound?

For the first time in a decade, I am seeing an inexplicable spike in the value of vintage and antique clarinets.  I have no explanation for this.  Hard rubber stencil Alberts are selling for almost $200.00 and Robert Malerne covertype standards are selling for OVER $400.00, and I just watched a Vito Dazzler top 80 bucks--and these prices are for clarinets in need of an overhaul.

I suppose only time will tell whether this was just an erratic blip or a trend with teeth.

I stopped selling clarinets a number of years ago because the amount of time I sunk was never worth the final sale price. I was making like $10-15 an hour, which became a pointless endeavor.

50 random clarinets stuffed in a closet later, maybe now's the time to get back into it

Recently I bought a Selmer CL300 student clarinet for $100 with free shipping and NM tax. It is in very clean lightly used condition in a pristene Selmer case. Even the nickel plated keys are bright and shiny. Needs very little work if any. It was from a music store in Idaho.

The successor model CL301 is selling for $1,738 on Musician's Friend and $1,399.00 on Sweetwater.

Normally what would sell used in a music store in such condition for say $400 - $500? I guess this seller almost couldn't give it away.

Perhaps the rebound is like a temporary bump in the stock market?

If clarinets are going up in value it's a good thing that I got the deal I made on the LeBkanc Vito I bought at a thrift store. It's in excellent shape and I've bought a new CW Fobes mouthpiece and it plays great

I couldn't resist after an eBay seller reduced an extremely clean 1974 Le Blanc Vito resonite to $30.

It arrived a few days ago. Even the case is lightly used. After tax and shipping I paid $59. Most of its engravings are still silver filled.
