So prices have been steadily rising since the origination of this post....would anyone like to buy me one of these before it goes up again?  :o

These are the two cases for my McIntyres. One seems identical in structure to the case Windsong posted, albeit in a different color. Unless someone comes up with an original sales brochure featuruing the cases they originally came with I guess we'll never really know if mine are original either  :-\

So when do your clarinet museums open?  Star exhibit will no doubt be 4 McIntyre system clarinets!

Mine's open now. Tickets are $2500 each but you can get a pair in exchange for a paperclip contrabass....

The ones I would put in the septet:

1915 wood Eb (unknown brand)
McIntyre Bb
One-piece, plateau Buffet A
Metal Kohlert and Sons Eb alto
Extended bell Moennig Bros Bb bass
Bundy Eb contra alto
Vito Bb contra bass

My sextet list is (at the moment) :

circa 1910 Fernand Chapelain & Cie Eb Sopranino
Noblet Stubbins Bb Soprano
circa 1920 T. Bertelling A Soprano
1960s King Eb Alto
1960s Leblanc Bass
1980s Vito Contra Alto

I might be persuaded to change which alto, but the Stubbins Bb has better tone to my ear than the McIntyres. Perhaps after trying different mouthpieces my mind could change.

now how many of these have I even laid lips on in the last year?

zero...

You and I are WAY too much alike...lol

I guess I have an ADVANCED case of MCS. I have 40 or so (and another Pedler on the way). So far I see no hope for a cure. The only (somewhat) effective treatment seems to be directly related to my bank account balance.......

Don't be jealous.
I have to do some repadding before I can really try to play them but I am TERRIFIED of taking any keys off either of them.
So they silently taunt me every time I walk in the room  :'(

The good thing is you and I BOTH have twice as many McIntyres as the Metropolitan Museum of Art  8)

The real confession here is that I was never that good at any of the clarinets I played.

I'm confessing the same thing. I have all kinds of clarinets and saxes but have made my living off guitar and voice for 30 years. The next album however has a song that begins with a classical guitar introduction but where the vocal begins it will be backed by

....wait for it...

a clarinet sextet!
(Eb sopranino, Bb soprano, A soprano, Eb alto, Bb bass, and Eb contra-alto. I plan on playing them all. I made sure the parts have a LOT of half and whole notes  ;D )

And if I should happen upon a contrabass, well, I'll rearrange it as a septet, I guess  ???

I emailed the lister about this one. He's not the original owner so I don't know how he can claim the pads are original...he also has the case (minus the innards) that he may sell separately at a later date. And no mouthpiece. I have 2 McIntyres with original cases so I think I'll let this one pass...but it sure is pretty :)

whoever ends up winning that one in the auction has their work cut out for them in terms of repadding it.

That would be me :)

Please let us know how that nightmare goes.

So far, so good. She is in very nice shape. The tenon corks look brand new and the pads are passable for now. Gave her a sip of key oil in all the right places and I'll oil her lightly after a bit...but she DOES play (within the severe limitations of the new owner...lol). Pictures will come soon.

S/N is 1083 and that's the about lowest I've found anywhere. Of course there isn't much info to be found. The highest serials I noted were in the 5000's. I guess that might mean she is closer to 1959 than 1962? What's the serial on yours, Dave?

Hey Dave, I have 101 posts (including this one) and I'd like to not be a "newbie" anymore. Can you hook a brother up?  8)

Doesn't seem to be working for me.

Wow, I never ever knew that the Stubbins mechanism was around so early!

The Stubbins wasn't around that early. This a "patent B-Flat", not a Stubbins.
