Barrel and key rings look vaguely like an early Couesnon but don't take that to the bank... it could be anything.

All about Clarinets / Re: ULTRA RARE Boosey & Co. A clarinet
« on: December 21, 2018, 09:39:02 PM »
Hey all,

Boy, do I have a treat for you. This is the first and so far only one of these I've ever come across!

A pre-1920 Boosey & Co. A clarinet, in the original double case. Unfortunately, it's missing its Bb companion.

Amazingly, this comes with a serial-matching mouthpiece (never seen that before). Oddly enough, the mouthpiece appears to be plastic, which is somewhat anachronistic.

Curiously, the clarinet is marked "GUARANTEED" British Made. I wonder why they had to strictly GUARANTEE it being made in Britain...

In any case, check out the gorgeous engraving!

Not too much of an anachronism... injection molded cellulosic plastics have been around since the late 1800's. Probably marketed as cutting edge technology. Neat looking horn.

My recent ebay purchases. First gamble into the vintage and wood clarinet world. Particularly interested in this wood Jean Barre and wood Jean Dumont which I hear is are good instruments (anything will be better than a Bundy 577 with a cracked tenon): https://www.ebay.com/itm/163199511452 and https://www.ebay.com/itm/VERY-OLD-JEAN-DUMONT-GRENADILLA-WOOD-CLARINET-AND-CASE/202323824302?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
