Unfortunately, there are serial numbers that come very close and the clarinets shown, as I posted in that Ebay listing' are identical. I say "Unfortunately" because they too, do not know what the model number is.

I still haven't gotten any closer to identifying this but there are others out on the internet that appear identical and are quite close on serial numbers. Help, anyone please !!!

All about Clarinets / Setting Up a Bundy Alto Instructions Needed
« on: June 26, 2021, 05:15:51 AM »
Hello all. I have a Bundy Alto Clarinet and I am a novice in terms of playing anything on it. I did my own pad job and messed up but not badly. I put it in a reputable shop and the tech said after some minor adjustments it was now playable. I wasn't at all impressed with it's performance and am not sure I want to put it back in the shop as I'm expecting that would be a segue to more charges and a confrontation. I had a pro player check it out also and he pronounced it as unplayable.

I cannot find resources online on how to go through these instruments in a methodical way to test and adjust the hardware. I think I asked this before on this Forum, years ago, but got somewhat ambiguous answers like "the internet' or "check Youtube". I haven't found anything myself. If I have missed anything, a proper link would be awesome. Cheers.

Discovered a small crack in a tenon. Revealed to buyer. Says it's ok with a discount $1500. Hope to send this out this week

Got a counter offer of $1600. I'm thinking of coming back with another of $1700. That would be less 10% that is Ebay's cut. I can really use the money, let me tell you.

OK E12 or C13... any hints on telling those 2 apart ?

Well I just dropped it down to $1800 on Feebay. Maybe I should put the price back up. Yrs it's in mint condition except I think the pads need redoing.

OK so we call it an E11, but that means some of the ID info I've read online is not correct. The logo is NOT a decal. It is embossed or etched into the wood. I can't remember now the other things that seemed to disqualify it from being an E11. Too bad some of the Buffet old timers from the factories wouldn't step up to the plate.

I'm not alone is this dilemma either as I've seen a pile of other posts from other Buffet owners who had these mystery German clarinets that they could not determine the model number one. You seem to be saying, if it's German buffet it has to be an E11 ??

Thanks. Someone has also put together a good video that basically blames band directors and conductors for not putting the Alto in a proper slot in the line up as the reason for it's unpopularity.

Thanks. Looks like a lot of great material I have bookmarked for later reference.

I should have made it clearer that I am working on Alto clarinets, not sopranos. At least not yet. That book looks interesting but again, it appears from the link, to cover only sopranos.

Cheers.

What I need is a good video or manual that goes through all the keys and/or notes and what needs to be closed and what needs to be open and by how much. I'm currently working on a Bundy Selmer and the thing won't play in the upper range on account of a Dysfunctional register mechanism and I have no idea what is wrong with it.

Greetings folks. As is the case with my collection of sub $100 trumpets, I have accumulated some instruments that I attempted my own pad job on (a Bundy) or another high end alto a Selmer that simply won't play especially into the upper octaves. I do not wat to spend a pile of money on these or take it to a tech who will then take me to the cleaners. I am such a novice, with no mentor available, that I do not know how to trouble shoot the problem. I'm sure my problem is solvable via adjustments that would be simple for a pro or a tech but I know nothing about. Are there any links out there for doing these diagnostics and repairs ? People keep telling me go look on Youtube but I haven't found any videos at all.
