Here's a couple more pics. I'm still intrigued by the off center LH3 hole.

The serial number is not stamped vertically so I  wasn't thinking Bettoney. Is there anything helpful with the off center LH3 tonehole? I don't recall EVER seeing that before

Got some pics but no good shot of the G#. Passing along what was sent to me. I can see about getting a shot of the C#/G# and will post it if and when I get it.

Is anyone on here familiar with a Sonata Deluxe metal clarinet? If so, any idea who the manufacturer was? I don't have access to a pic, but it is stamped made in the USA

Historically informed performances today are most often at A=415.

So when I earlier posted about tuning my guitar down to around A=415 I should have said  I was performing historically. THAT's the validation I was looking for  ;D

British sports cars, you say?  I take it you are well acquainted with Joseph Lucas electrics, then...

Lucas, the Prince of Darkness! I had a 1966 MGB that had two 6-volts wired in tandem. With a positive ground (earth). Learned about that the hard way...LOL. It's funny now, but not so much at the time.

Great stuff! If music, math, and physics were taught together, people might understand all three better.

Or I would have failed three classes instead of two   ???

To be more complete, my years have been spent in order:
Seoul, South Korea
Arlington, Virginia
Dakar, Senegal
San Diego/Los Angeles

That's quite a range of places!

I'm just curious by nature so I often take a moment to look at other's profiles. I've noticed that most folks on here haven't listed where they call home in their profiles, so tell me : from where do you all come?

I knew I was telling the right person about that auction! I'm almost as happy as if I had gotten them. Almost  ;)

I can certainly agree with how much better a guitar sounds when lowered. At my gigs I have her tuned down 1/2 step (that would be A = 415.30 for those of you keeping score) and she sounds like a different instrument, even if capoed up. She has MUCH more resonance. It's a LOT easier on the voice, too....unless you're singing "Ol' Man River"  :o

Now that life has attained a post-hurricane normalcy (for the time being, anyway) here are the promised pictures of my Beacon Plateau. As you can see there are plateaus on all RH holes, LH 1, LH 2, but not on LH 3 or on the LH thumb. Kind of odd, eh? Also, the serial numbers are horizontal so I'm guessing Silver is right about Beacons being a Bettoney stencil.

I was using C.G. Conn key oil.
With a needle tip.

Before having my coffee, obviously....

Just not having a banner day  >:(
