After doing some digging, looks like the guarantee bond certificate was signed by Sidney Pedler, one of Harry's younger sons.

Sisface23,
Thank you for your contribution.  That is quite the clarinet you have found.  I have never seen a Soprano Pedler Plateau, so you have a rare gem.
I would love to see photos, and know whether you moved forward on its restoration.
Sid signed late in the game.  He may have even stayed behind at MBIC, for a time.  To answer your question, Yes; in my estimation, the guarantee bond makes your valuable clarinet significantly more valuable.  Can you tell me who the manager was at the time?  (Was it RO Thompson?)
Even if it never plays magnificently (and it may well), you certainly got quite a fantastic deal, as you hold an historically significant relic.
Cheers-
Expert bubblegum welder, and Pedler Pedler.

Re: Harry Pedler and Co./The Pedler Co. Serial Number List
« Reply #167 on: March 01, 2022, 10:37:30 AM »
HARRY PEDLER/THE PEDLER, CO. SERIAL NUMBER LIST:

* All clarinets, unless listed otherwise are Bb Sopranos in the BOEHM SYSTEM.  While Harry Pedler made clarinets in the keys of A, C, and Eb, I have only ever seen one Eb in metal.  I have in my possession, literature published by Harry Pedler from 1924 verifying their existence, however.

** All clarinets listed are deemed or known to be Low Pitch (A=440Hz).  I have never seen a HP Harry Pedler, and firmly believe none exist.  I have come across no literature stating any were ever made—even in the Albert system.

*** All clarinets listed were made between 1919-1956.  When specifics on dates are made available, especially as they relate to prefix model range, they will be posted.

****  I have personally examined a good many of the clarinets on this list, either from handling the clarinets personally or careful scrutiny of photographs from internet auctions, and conversing with owners and sellers in cyberspace whom I will likely never actually meet.  Quite literally, thousands of hours have been spent in the culmination of data (including the time of generous others who have selflessly contributed to this project for purpose of historical preservation of often fleeting information) recording and examining clarinets to ensure accuracy, but no claims are made to 100% accuracy.  If you know of reported data that is incorrect or seems incorrect, please make it known, and it will be investigated/corrected.  If you own (or come to own) any clarinets listed, and can provide further details of any kind, I'd be most obliged.

I found this while scrolling through some auctions.  I've seen pictures of a fair number of Pedler clarinets, but never saw this logo before.  Checked the serial number list and this must be what is referred to as the Pennant logo.

Good evening, clarinet enthusiasts!
I am new to the forum world - in fact this is my first ever post here, so please forgive any improper etiquette on my end.

I recently acquired a metal clarinet and I’ve hit a wall on the investigation of its lineage. I can find little to nothing on it, but from the detachable bell, to the key work and rollers, to even the case, my guess is that it’s a Harry Pedler stencil. If there’s any seasoned eyes on here that would be willing to sneak a peek and enlighten me with some knowledge, I’d greatly appreciate it! Please and thank you!

Whatever it is, that's a pretty premium style of metal clarinet. Adjustable barrels are hard to find on all but the highest quality metals.

Detachable bell is also a good sign - for some reason, the more pieces a metal breaks down into, the better it tends to be. Don't ask me why.

It definitely doesn’t feel like a cheapo student model. The weight and build quality reminds me of the Silva-Bet, and it’s the first I’ve seen (in person) with a tuning barrel that doesn’t detach.

Wait, the barrel doesn't detach? Well that's definitely unique. Can't say I've heard of that before. I'm sure you've checked, but it could be stuck on?

No the barrel appears to be factory attached, unless someone did a perfect job replating the silver after doing a factory-clean job attaching the barrel. I’ve never seen it before either but I thought I had read that some of the Pedlers were similar so I just assumed it was a stencil.

With an adjustable tuning device, and no wood to crack, there would be no reason for a "barrel".

Hello all!
As a newb, I’m sure I’ll make a faux pas, or two. My wife and I found this at an antique store and couldn’t say no. She has played and taught clarinet for years and this just cried out “take me home!”
I found your site while looking for information. Based on your wonderful website and its SN 9399, I think this is a student edition, made between 1939-1941 and is nickel-plated brass. I believe the case is original. I don’t know what to think about the mouthpiece and guard.
The store did not have any more information on how it was acquired.
I’m attaching the max of 4 pix but would be happy to share more. Thank you so much for all this background info. I wanted to add another “lost HP” to your inventory.
If anyone knows more, I’m all ears! Thanks and Happy Holidays!

Do you not call the mouthpiece receptacle a barrel? They don't look much like a barrel-shape, but they serve the same purpose on metal or wood, no?

After doing some digging, looks like the guarantee bond certificate was signed by Sidney Pedler, one of Harry's younger sons.

I was perusing an old issue of the NAPBIRT Technicom and noticed something interesting. Sidney A. Pedler is listed in an index of officers from Elkhart instrument manufacturers. There is no mention of him working for the Pedler company, but he was founder and president of the Hoosier Band Instrument Company from 1950 through 1964. I can find little other information on the company besides that it was incorporated in 1949 and officially dissolved in 1970, and Donald Getzen was apparently involved with it in the '60s.

Pedler had a Hoosier model starting in the mid-1930s and running at least through the 1940s. Suppose Sidney bought the name from Martin when he left to start his own company?

I did find an example of a Hoosier instrument not made by the Pedler Company - a wood clarinet. The bell stamping is the outline of Indiana with "HOOSIER" superimposed on it, and "Elkhart Ind." below.

That issue of TechniCom has another valuable detail: Joseph O. Thompson became vice president of Pedler in 1936, and held that post through at least 1953.

Good evening Ladies and Gents.
I return to share what I hope to be a missing link.  I have just bought what appears to be a Harry Pedler and Co. HP bell, potentially dispelling the notion that Harry never made HP clarinets.  Surely this would be the first I've ever seen.  It was attached to an H. FREEMAN clarinet, so I took the lot.  My own photos to follow, but from the seller, we have these:
