Boehm Eb that comes apart in the middle?
« on: August 08, 2020, 09:38:20 PM »
Anybody out here in clarinet land seen one before?  I saw a pic of one with measurements to verify, and it had me thinking I may not have seen that before...maybe other key systems, but not Boehm.  My memory may be failing me.  No makers mark on this one, unfortunately- very old of course!  What say you?

That would certainly be a first for me. Alberts more often than not came apart in the middle, but Iíve personally never seen or held one myself

Unfortunately, this one is missing most of it's keys, maybe I'll try to still pick it up for, well, reasons unknown. :o

You never know when it'll come in handy. I once bought a random metal Eb barrel that I can never use just because

I just saw one a while back when I was looking for an eefer...stenciled Martin Busine.  IO did a bit more research to see who stenciled them, and it seemed to be Orsi.  Because I've not been a fan of Orsi instruments, I didn't pursue the purchase even though I thought that the two piece body was interesting.

I've also seen a newer Buffet eefer that has a two-piece body...but that was several years ago and have never done any work to see if that was a standard configuration or just what the situation.

Uses smaller/leftover billets of wood?  It's certainly not an advantage for the player, so it's probably an efficient manufacturing thing....
