Metal clarinet barrel
« on: May 14, 2022, 08:04:57 PM »
I have a Penzel Mueller Artists metal clarinet without the barrel. Is there anyone that might be able to post measurements of the barrel or a barrel from some other metal clarinet so I can machine one to fit.
Thank you,
John

I would be hesitant about that, as not all barrels are interchangeable - just like how wood or other barrels are not always even going to physically fit.

Thank you  for the response, I agree with you. I am just looking to get a starting point like overall dimensions, mainly height. I can adjust dimensions as needed. If it comes down to it I will just measure my wood clarinet height and subtract the difference and go from there. It’s not a  difficult part to machine.

Overall dimensions of metal clarinet barrels vary considerably. For example length can vary from 40mm to 67mm depending on the instrument, and that doesn't even take into account that some barrels have tenons and some have sockets. I think measuring your other clarinet and going from there is a great starting point.
