Leblanc clarinet
« on: November 27, 2023, 10:10:35 AM »
I would like some information on a LeBlanc clarinet Serial number 101
It plays very well with a deep rich tone.
The top joint has a metal badge with the head of a French war president, just guessing.
Year of manufacture and where would be good,

Thanks

Hi, John:

It would be helpful if you could post a picture of your clarinet.  LeBlanc used more than one series of serial numbers.

The profile you see on the badge is that of Leon LeBlanc.  It appears on music folios, case badges, neck strap sliders and many other woodwind-related items from LeBlanc.

It would be very helpful to have some pics of your clarinet. The manufacture date can be determined by the logo on the instrument. I've worked on many of the mid 20th century Leblancs and have never seen a 3 digit serial number. I know that Leblanc made a couple of models that had small metal discs imbedded in the wood. The one with Leon Leblanc's figure was produced near the end of the company's existence around 2000. Please add some pics.

Any clarinet with a metal badge on the body itself is usually a premium piece. I can't really recall LeBlanc tacking metal badges on their clarinets though, oddly enough. Would love to see a pic!
