Is my old Bundy Resonite bell actually wooden?

I have an early wooden Bundy soprano clarinet. The barrel and body are all made from wood. The bell clearly says Resonite on the sticker but appears to have a grain pattern to it.

I always thought that actual Resonite was completely smooth without the fake wood grain pattern.
The attached pics will show what I\'m talking about. What do you think??

It looks like the bell has a small crack on the inside, which tells me that it\'s wood, although it\'s a little hard to see if the pattern on the inside of the bell is a wood grain or just aged plastic with such a narrow depth of field. Usually a synthetic piece only has a wood grain on the outside.

I really think it\'s wood. I didn\'t notice the crack (it may be just a scratch as it crosses over the grain). Looking at it right now using the computer monitor as a backlight, I see actual wood grain inside the bell.
ZoeB, you must be into photography too if know a shallow DOF is

Maybe Selmer was ramping up production of Bundy\'s during a transition to Resonite.
Just slapping on Resonite stickers on any bell in the parts bin :-/

Hi Dave, it is a wooden Bundy with a Resonite sticker applied to the bell. I would love to find a definitive serial number list for the older Bundy woodwinds !!
