Well it turns out my illness is stage 3 myeloma, bone cancer. Its not curable but it is treatable (chemo)
But I can no longer play clarinet or any instrument that requires strong air. Recorder and tin whistle are ok, possibly flute.
I could have had this disease for a few years and not realised-thst is why its always been hard to blow strongly,! It sits in you undetected and thrn ZBad, welcome to the Myeloma club!
So I discovered my great nephew is learning clarinet at school but he doesn't have his own horn. Well soon he will have. I'm giving him the plastic Windsor with reeds, books and spare mpcs.
The Pedler I plan to get repaired and sell for at least £200.
Fingers crossed.

Larry, very sorry to hear that! We'll all be sure to play for you. I'm glad you'll be able to pass the joy of playing to the younger generation.

Stay strong, friend.

Blessings to you Larry!  I am an 18-year survivor of ongoing metastatic prostate cancer, still going strong.

So sorry to hear that, worst I've had so far is basal cell skin cancer which is not serious.  My dad died after a 20 year fight with prostate cancer and survived to 82.  Not a bad fight when he was originally given 1 year to live in his early 60's.  He credited his success with BIRM and testosterone blockers (supplements can do that) as his cancer was sensitive to testosterone levels.

I hope you beat it, or at least survive in good health for a long time.

Cheers guys. Ok to still post in here even though I don't play clarinet?

Wow, Larry, what devastating news! Yes, don't stop posting here. And when times get rough, enjoy that Sigo tenor recorder I see on your website. (I want to get the Alto when it appears.)
Best wishes to you in fighting and following through with treatiment.
